The Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs

Once upon a time, there lived a poor farmer named Hari.

He worked hard every day in his small field, but he barely had enough money to buy food.

One morning, he went to feed his goose.

To his surprise, he saw something shiny in the nest.

It was a golden egg!

“A golden egg? This can’t be real!” said Hari, blinking his eyes.

He picked it up and ran to the market.

The shopkeeper checked it and said,

“This is real gold!”

Hari was overjoyed.

From that day on, the goose laid one golden egg every morning.

Hari sold the egg and soon had enough money to buy food, clothes, and even fix his broken house.

He was no longer poor.

His neighbors started calling him “the lucky farmer.”

Hari thanked the goose every day.

But one day, Hari thought,

“If I get one golden egg every day, maybe there are many more inside the goose! Why wait?”

Greed filled his heart.

He wanted all the golden eggs at once.

Without thinking, he took a knife and…

he did something very sad.

He killed the goose to get all the golden eggs.

But when he looked inside…

there were no golden eggs at all.

Just like any other goose.

Too Late

Hari sat on the ground and cried.

“What have I done?” he sobbed.

He had lost his precious goose and the golden eggs forever.

He was no longer rich.

He was sad, and all because he wanted too much too fast.

Moral of The Story:

From that day, Hari learned a big lesson:

> "Greed can take away the good things we already have."

Be grateful, be patient, and never let greed steal your happiness.
