The Boy Who Cried Wolf Story for Kids in English – With Picture Prompts

Once upon a time, in a quiet little village nestled between green hills, there lived a young shepherd boy named Arjun. Every day, Arjun would take his flock of sheep to graze on the grassy hills. It was peaceful… but to Arjun, it was just plain boring!

One afternoon, feeling especially bored, Arjun got an idea. He smirked and shouted, “Wolf! Wolf! A wolf is attacking my sheep!”

The villagers heard his cries and rushed up the hill, breathless and worried. But when they got there, there was no wolf. Arjun burst into laughter.

“I fooled you all!” he giggled.

The villagers were not amused. “Don’t play such tricks, Arjun,” one of them warned. “Someday we might not believe you.”

But Arjun just laughed and waved goodbye.

A few days later, he did it again.

“Wolf! Wolf!” he yelled.

Once more, the villagers ran up the hill—and once more, there was no wolf. This time, they left angrily. “Lying isn’t a game,” they told him.

But one evening, as the sun dipped low and the shadows grew longer… a real wolf appeared from the forest!

It growled and snarled, ready to attack the sheep.

Terrified, Arjun screamed, “Wolf! Wolf! Please help!”

But this time, the villagers stayed in the village. “He’s just playing tricks again,” they said. “We won’t be fooled.”

The wolf chased the sheep. Arjun cried and tried to stop it, but he was too small. Many of the sheep were lost.

The next day, Arjun went to the village with tears in his eyes. “I’m sorry,” he said softly. “I lied, and now I’ve lost so much.”

The villagers were sad too, but they reminded him, “When you lie, people stop believing you—even when you’re telling the truth.”

Moral of the Story:

Always tell the truth. Once trust is broken, it's hard to earn back. Honesty is the best policy!
